True to its unique and exotic culture, Kerala has a host of colourful and spectacular festivals. Onam is the main festival marked by floral decorations, feasting and songs. The snake boat races in the beautiful backwaters of Alleppey and Aranmula are famous the world over. The celebrated Trissur Pooram is another glorious festival with its grand elephant march featuring caparisoned elephants and multi-hued parasols against a background of music and spectacular fireworks.

Dances and Dance dramas
Kerala’s intricate dance dramas like Kathakali, the traditional temple dance of Koodiyattom, sensuous and languid dance forms like Mohiniyattom along with exotic and colourful ritual dance forms like Theyyam have captured the imagination of the world.

Martial Arts
Kalaripayattu, Kerala’s own martial art form , is renowned for its completeness, elegance and all-round effectiveness. Kung-Fu is believed to have originated from the methods of Kalari.
